Rochester Viewing Platform Container Conversion
We were asked by The South East England Development Agency to assist them. They are helping to re-develop the old docks in Rochester, Kent from a disused industrial wasteland into new housing. They wanted a way of showing local residents and other interested parties the progress on the site, but given it is a working construction site and as such dangerous, they needed a safe viewing platform.
Mr Box were commissioned to design and build a stack of containers for the purpose. We liaised on everything including the concrete base, and designed a method of securing the containers to the base, and then each other. We then built a specially converted office unit to act as a Reception, located at ground level, and a special Viewing Unit located 40 feet up from which the site can be viewed. There is also an open-air area viewing area from the roof of a specially strengthened container roof fitted with decking. Please also note the "regeneration in action" logo on the side of one of the containers.
