Mr Box were asked to supply a modified 1 x 20 foot open-sided ISO container to be used as a British Gas Exhibition space.
For this conversion, Mr Box delivered the shipping container to the manufacturing facilities of Firefly Solar Generators Ltd in Hove, East Sussex.
The initial brief provided by the British Gas, to Firefly, was that the container should be converted to demonstrate the capabilities of a standard British Gas domestic solar installation. The system needed to be capable of powering all items within the container including: low energy lighting, plasma TV, 13 amp sockets whilst operating independently of a mains electricity supply.
At their facilities in Hove, the team of solar specialists undertook the internal fit out of the container and set to work installing the twelve panel solar array.
Additional features of this bespoke solar installation include a hydraulic system that enables the solar panels to be raised into an optimum angle of forty five degrees, at the flick of a switch.
This type of application also has other potential uses where mains electricity is not available, such as: front line telecommunication centres, remote weather monitoring centres, disaster relief and crisis management and office/workspaces.
