Model Flat

 

We were approached by Blackwood Homes and Care, based in Glasgow, to build a model flat for an event they we’re exhibiting at in Manchester. The purpose of this conversion was to showcase Blackwood’s range of products aimed at making the homes of disabled people more accessible.

Modifications

  • 18mm plywood floor with 2mm antislip polyfloor overlaid
  • Timber stud framework with 50mm rockwool insulation behind
  • Ceilings finished with 12mm white vinyl face plywood
  • Walls finished with beige multipro to open areas & kitchen. Wet room to have 12mm plywood overlaid with tile effect cladding
  • Recessed spotlights throughout
  • Recessed sockets throughout – brushed aluminium finish
  • 3x 2kw oil filled radiators
  • Each unit has its own consumer unit & 32A appliance inlet
  • Fit free issue kitchen & wet room equipment – no plumbing required
  • Upper unit fit with 1x 16’ wide set of patio doors – 8’ wide doors with 2x 4’ wide fixed pane windows either side. 2x apertures for linking to central unit
  • Central unit has 4x apertures for linking to upper & lower unit. Partitions as per drawing with 2x sliding doors (timber)
  • Lower unit fit with 1x set of 8’ wide white UPVC patio doors & 2x apertures to link to central unit
  • All apertures supplied with removable timber frames with plastic sheeting fitted – client to remove & refit on site
  • Painted external of units single RAL colour
