We source all of our new containers directly and build each one to a specification designed for self-store operators. Our containers are available in 4 standard sizes at 8, 10, 20 or 40ft long. The most popular containers for storage purposes are the 10ft and 20ft units, as well as the multi-compartmental and tunnel containers that we offer.
Our storage containers are constructed from Corten steel, which is very strong and resists corrosion. They are also coated with a 2-pack paint system and bitumen coated base that is designed to stand up to the rigors of marine use.
- Built to a full marine specification – manufactured from corrosion resistant corten steel
- Protected with marine grade paint.
- Fitted with additional ventilation – to ensure condensation is not a problem.
- Fitted with high locking bars – for ease of use.
- A wipe clean 28mm marine ply floor that is specially sealed and certified as being rot and vermin proof.
- Factory fitted lock box (high security lock box) with anti-jemmy lugs fitted to the doors – which shrouds the padlock and protects it from interference.
- Available in a range of colours.
- Capable of being stacked.
Advice for Self Store Clients
The self-storage industry is a relatively new and entrepreneurial one, meaning that many of our existing self store clients were new start-up companies when they first approached Mr Box for equipment. Over the years, we have advised many customers on how to set up their sites and are proud to offer not just containers but a whole range of complimentary services such as advice on self store sites, security and padlock design, master key services, and staircases and gantries.
If you’re interested in setting up a self store business, or are looking at self storage units near you in the UK, please feel free to contact us and we can assist you.

Tunnel container units have doors at both ends meaning that the interior can be divided into smaller individual units by fitting a dividing wall. We offer two types of partition wall: a fixed partition, or a moveable partition giving you the flexibility to create rooms of any size. This kind of flexibility is something that many people tend to look for when it comes to fulfilling complex storage requirements.
Multi Compartment Container Storage Units
At Mr Box, we have developed the design of containers with multiple compartments, whereby we adapt standard containers and subdivide them into smaller individual stores. Each unit has its own entry door and ventilation. Individual store sizes can vary but in a standard 40ft container, up to 8 x 5ft compartments can be achieved or 4 x 5ft rooms in a standard 20ft container.
We manufacture two types of unit, one which has single, high security personnel doors fitted and another with single container style doors. Not only are these smart and easy to operate, but they are also very secure. This style of container offers a lot of flexibility, particularly for customers who require a space smaller than a 20ft container.
Accessible Storage Units
Shipping containers are stackable but to provide safe access we can sell or rent steel staircases. These are available in mobile or static models and are designed to work with container doors or pedestrian doors found in accommodation containers.
Secure Storage Units
We supply high security padlocks that are designed for use with a lock box. These locks can correspond with a master key service in which you have a key that fits all of the locks in your depot but those renting can only access their own container. As a self storage business owner, this allows you to have more authority should you face any payment or safety concerns.
